History in Sardinia

Speaking of tourism in Sardinia, the first things that come to mind are surely: beaches, sun and sea.
But holidays in Sardinia are not just that. Sardinia, one might say, is the island with many faces: one is the cultural one, which has a long history as witnessed by the many "nuraghi" scattered throughout the island, which date back to ancient civilizations of Sardis and which is the main cultural and historical attraction of Sardinia.

It would be enough just to spend the holidays in Sassari to realize the rich history of the territory: a territory that over the centuries has seen many cultures intertwined, from Phoenician-Punic to Roman, to the Spanish experience, Catalan and in particular, traces of which are gathered in what is called the small Barcelona of Italy: Alghero. Holiday in Alghero means culture and history, and of course fun, sea, beaches
and headlands (as Capo Caccia, representing an extraordinary landscape). But Alghero is famous for its caves, the masterpieces of the "carsismo" phenomenon, the Cave of Neptune, the pagan god of the sea, and the Green Cave, for the charming green fluorescence coming from stalagmites.
Finally, another important aspect in Sardinia is the folklore: typical dances in traditional Sardinian costumes, old fashioned folk songs, processions with colored decorations, all accompanied by a taste of wines and local dishes.
